In every area of life, growth is necessary! If babies do not grow, they will never become adults. If businesses do not grow they will eventually close down. If churches do not grow they will gradually die. If Christians do not grow they will never mature and become strong enough to defend their faith, and resist the devil. The apostle Peter tells us to “Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18) Peter also tells us that as “Newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that we may grow thereby”. Where there is no growth, there will be stagnation, and a stagnated Christian will be in danger of being overrun by the devil. Growing helps us to be better able to handle trials and temptations, and better prepare us to help others.
